Two uses for a saved QR design: a menu on the counter and a portfolio to share. Illustrations show layout ideas; QR symbols are not scannable.

Preview status: the new QR workspace is currently available to internal test accounts. This article introduces that preview; it is not a public launch announcement. Existing basic QR downloads remain available from your links.

A café changes its menu after printing a counter sign. A creator wants a portfolio card that uses their colors and logo. Both need more than a QR image: they need a design they can save, reuse and update without replacing every printed copy.

The 302.sh QR workspace brings those steps together: choose a purpose, connect a destination, customize the artwork and compare visits from each placement. Here is how the preview works.

One saved design, one placement link

Each saved QR design is associated with one short link. The image points to that stable address, while the link holds the destination. If your menu moves to a new URL, edit the destination in the QR editor and save. The original exported code will use the updated destination once the change has propagated.

Saving a design locks its short-link domain and alias so an accidental rename cannot change the address already on your sign. You can still edit its colors, layout and text, or download it again, without creating another link.

Keep the destination available and renew any custom domain you use. Deleting the underlying link, an owner-set expiration or a safety restriction can still stop a redirect. A saved design does not remove those responsibilities.

The menu itself stays on your website or another service you use. The workspace designs the entrance to it; it does not host a menu file.

  1. In an account with preview access, open QR Codes and create a design. Choose the menu scene.
  2. Paste the menu URL or select an existing short link. Check that the destination opens the correct menu.
  3. Name the design and set its placement to Counter. Use a specific action line such as “Explore our menu.”
  4. Choose your foreground and background colors, then square, rounded or dot modules. Add a logo and brand accent if your plan includes branding.
  5. Select A6 sign, save the design and use Print / Save PDF. The intended page size is 105 × 148 mm; check the browser's paper size and scaling before saving or printing.

The browser print flow is part of this preview. A6 PDF and physical print acceptance are still in progress, so check an actual proof before ordering a batch. A successful on-screen readability check does not establish that a particular printer, paper or lighting setup will work.

The other shop scenes cover a Google review page and a booking or contact page. They prefill suitable copy; the destination website still handles reviews, reservations and messages. For review links, see our Google review QR guide.

For a creator: share a branded card that opens your Bio

Start from your Bio page's QR control and choose Customize & track this QR code, or select your Bio in the editor. Choose the portfolio scene, add a short action line such as “Meet my work,” and use the square card layout.

A custom logo and brand accent make the card recognizable. Save a default brand style to reuse it for the next design; changing that default leaves existing designs as they were. The square card exports as a 1080 × 1080 PNG for sharing or placing in other artwork.

You can also point a design at a social profile, product or event page. The six scenes are starting points for copy and layout. They do not create those pages or replace the services behind them.

Choose the output that fits the job

The layouts have fixed text regions and length limits. The editor preserves at least 4 modules of clear space around the code, limits logo size, requires dark-on-light contrast and uses high error correction with a logo. Before export, it attempts to decode the rendered artwork and blocks designs that fail.

If an export fails, simplify the design: increase contrast, remove the logo or return to square modules, then check again. Keep the clear margin when placing the export into another design. Test the final printed size and leave a readable link nearby when people may need another way to open the page.

Give each placement its own code

A counter sign and a packaging insert may lead to the same menu, but they answer different questions. Use Copy to new placement to make a second design and short link, then label it Packaging. Download and use that new code on the insert.

Changing the placement label alone does not split historical traffic. Reusing the same exported image in both places combines their visits. Separate placement links are what make the comparison possible.

The workspace reports QR entry visits, with trends, countries and devices. Its overview compares the placements on the current list page, up to 50 at a time, or a selected design. It does not silently combine every page of a large account.

A QR entry visit means a request arrived through the address encoded by a workspace export. Someone can copy and share that address, so the count is not proof of a camera scan, a unique person, an order or a completed review. Ordinary short-link clicks keep their existing reporting; older unmarked QR downloads remain usable but cannot be retroactively identified as workspace QR entries.

Reports use the existing bot filtering, analytics allowance and 90-day retention. If the tracking allowance is exhausted, redirects continue while additional analytics recording stops. Use these reports to compare recorded entrances, then check your destination's own tools for purchases or other outcomes.

Use your existing plan

There is no separate QR subscription. Within the preview, Free includes colors, all three module patterns, basic layouts, dynamic destinations, QR entry reporting and the export formats without a watermark. New short links count toward the usual plan limits; attaching an existing eligible link does not consume another creation.

Creator and above can save and export custom logos and brand accents, and save one default brand style. Free accounts can preview those options before upgrading. The editor preserves the draft for the return from upgrading.

If a paid plan expires, saved artwork remains viewable and downloadable, and its destination can still be changed. Creating or editing a paid design requires the branding entitlement again, or you can save a version that uses the free design options.

Archive a design when you want to hide it from the active list while keeping its code working. Permanently deleting its associated link is a separate action and disables that address.

What happens next?

Internal testing comes first, including the remaining PDF, print and live-report checks. General access will follow a separate rollout decision; buying a paid plan does not currently unlock the internal preview.

For now, you can continue using the basic QR downloads on existing links. If your account already has preview access, open QR Codes to try the saved-design workflow. Start with one real destination and one placement, check the result, then add a second placement when you have a reason to compare them.

What is included in 302.sh?

Free allows 5 new links per UTC month and up to 50 owned links, with 5 custom slugs per month of at least 6 characters. Deleting a link does not refund its monthly creation allowance.

Free includes 2,000 analytics events per month and 90-day retention. Reaching that analytics allowance stops additional tracking, not redirects. Link deletion, owner-set limits and safety enforcement can still stop redirects. Branded domains require a paid plan and completed domain setup. See current plans and limits.
